Overstrand lies in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

  • Blickling Hall, NorfolkAs well as excellent countryside to explore on foot or by car, there are shopping areas in historic towns such as Holt, Cromer and Sheringham as well as the County capital, Norwich. Or the sandy beach at Overstrand may be just what you need to simply relax and watch the sea.
  • Cromer Carnival (which can trace its origins back to 1285AD) is a week long festival that includes an aerobatic display (usually by the Red Arrows) on the Wednesday together with the big parade in the early evening.
  • North Norfolk has a number of historic buildings such as the National Trust properties of Felbrigg Hall and Blickling Hall or the estates of Wolterton and Mannington.
  • There are boat trips to see the seals at Blakeney or you can hire a motor launch and explore the Norfolk Broads.
  • Running between Sheringham and Holt via Weybourne and Kelling is the full size heritage steam railway of the North Norfolk Railway. There are also the narrow gauge railways of the Bure Valley Railway (between Aylsham and Wroxham) and the Wells & Walsingham Light Railway.
  • If you enjoy visiting gardens then the Old Vicarage at East Ruston is definitely worth a visit. Many of the local villages also have an ‘Open Gardens’ day each year during the summer.
  • During November and December each year is the Thursford Christmas Spectacular. One of the most lavish variety shows in the country  -  but you need to plan early as it is usually fully booked by the middle of the year.
  • The wildlife nature reserve of Pensthorpe was made famous by the BBC’s Springwatch series and offers many opportunities to observe and learn about the natural world around us.
